Confusing Luck with Skill

by Cam on March 19, 2009

rouletteThose bankers we keep hearing about on the news… the only skills they seem to have is driving the markets down using a flawed business model. I’ve often heard (then repeated) that there is “no magic in beating a bull market”.

So true.

When you can make money in a down market, when other people aren’t doing it. You’ve found a skill.

The thing is, there are SOOOO many opportunities available now while the economy is in the tank. Think about it – people are staying in, not going to the movies, not eating out… so what are they doing? Surfing the internet, watching TV, reading (remember that?).

How can you find opportunity in this down market? Find a need, and fill it.

People want stuff to read. Write for them.

People want entertainment on the internet. Give it to them.

People want to find what they’re looking for, quickly. Help them find it fast!

There are many possibilities unfolding here. Article Marketing, Niche Building, eBooks, Info-tainment, Building online communities/forums, Video marketing, you-name-it… opportunity awaits.

Don’t confuse luck with skill. When one thing stops working, evaluate your strategy, adjust and continue forward.
