No Refunds.

I got an email this morning that I just HAD to share. You see, I have a pretty unconventional guarantee when it comes to 5 Minute Minisites.

Here’s my reply:

Since I know it works, and it has worked for so many of my customers… I don’t offer refunds.

That goes 100% against the grain of everything you ever learn in copywriting 101, and all the marketing “gurus” out there will surely laugh at such an “amateur move”… but here’s why I do it.

First, there are no license keys, no CD’s, and basically nothing to keep you from continuing to use it after I refund your money (if I were to do so).

Case in point: I had a customer who asked for a refund on another product of mine back in January (which I happily obliged) then he CONTINUED to ask me questions about how to use it – weeks later.

Not cool!

So I’d rather weed out the tire-kickers right up-front to cut down on the amount of support activity I’ll have to manage on the back end. That way I can spend more time with the people who ARE using the software and aren’t just “trying it out” to see if they like it.

But… if you do need a little sweet talkin’, here ya go:

“Did you do something to your hair? Have you lost weight? Well, whatever you’ve done, you look great. Really. Wow.”

I love my customers, and I’ve forged a lot of wonderful relationships with people who have bought stuff from me. Seriously.

I love my customers like Sammy Haggar loves Cabo Wabo and not driving 55.

I love them like Snoop Dogg loves women with low self-esteem.

Customers… complete… me.

But you had me at your money. The software works.

You STILL want a guarantee?

I guarantee you didn’t read the instructions, watch the videos or build a site if you’re not making money. Or you’re in a coma.

Seriously.

There… I said it.

“Do you like making money?”

“Really?”

“So what’s the problem with a NO REFUND policy?”

Does that make me a bad person?

Isn’t my software (and the money it will make my customers – when they USE IT) good enough?

I’d appreciate your thoughts in the comments!
