When you get out of bed in the morning and think about what you want to do that day, ask yourself whether you would like others to read about it on the front page of tomorrow’s newspaper.
I bet you’ll probably do things a little differently if you keep that in mind.
(This is very similar to the saying “What Would Jesus Do?” – or WWJD. However this is not a blog about my Christian religious beliefs, and I won’t preach to you - my dear reader.)
At the same time, don’t try to tackle too much.
Make lists, and work through them. But don’t kick yourself if, at the end of the day, not all items are checked off.
It’s a rare day when I’m able to handle all the things that “must be done”. I just hope that everything will still be there the next day so I can pick up where I left off and continue making progress.
Leo has a great post about list-making over at Zen Habits – the idea of the “Most Important Tasks”. I learned a lot from that, and I highly recommend it.
