What I’ve Been Up To Lately…

by Cam on October 26, 2009

Last week I sent out a promo – the first one in a looooong time – and the responses surprised me. More than anything else, the emails I got back were along the lines of “Where have you been?!”…

I thought I’d make a video to explain.

The purpose of this video is twofold…

First, it should explain why I’ve been so quiet lately. Truth is, I’ve been busier than ever. Too busy, in fact.

You see, I’ve been laser focused on improving the overall efficiency and processes of my internet business(es). I’m hoping that by putting in the hard work now I’ll be able to take time off more easily down the road.

Second, this should serve as a primer for anyone looking to get into internet marketing. Obviously there are a lot of moving parts to getting ANY business going. I’m putting together a video series that will show you, step by step, how to construct everything needed to start selling stuff online. Think of this as video 1 of that series – an ugly, behind-the-scenes display of all the duct tape, popsicle sticks, and spit that holds it all together.

But back to something I said above. There are a lot of moving parts.

Think about if you were opening a fast-food restaurant, or a pub. You would have to find the real estate, build out the interior, line up suppliers, advertise, get permits, resale certificates, alcohol licenses, insurance, and on and on and on… Fortunately, starting out online is WAAAAY easier – and with the right information you can get started in hours instead of weeks/months.

The fact is, it doesn’t have to be that way.

Don’t pay attention to the mouse cursor in the top-left of the video… (ha ha, now that I said it you won’t be able to take your eyes off it!)

Hey bro. Nice to get an update. Re Infusion: One top marketer I know left Infusionsoft for Nanacast. Check them out here: https://nanacast.com/index.php?

Check them out.

yeah, I was talking with Alex Malave about them too. They seem like a worthy competitor to the other apps I’ve mentioned – perhaps with more of an IM twist to their offering (the video/testimonial instead of a sales page is clever).

I know Alex ran into problems with Infusionsoft in converting his lists to a format Infusion would accept. I didn’t have those issues — mostly because I’ve got “mad Excel skillz!” :)

Hey Cam,

Great to see how things are going and what you’ve been up to. Strange enough, I’ve been working on similar things in my business and getting infusionsoft all setup. It’s an incredible software, but it sure is taking a lot more work to transfer over than I thought it would – but I know it will be worth it.

Let’s catch up soon.

Thanks Adam. Yeah, it’s a lot of work – and I’m sure we’ll both have some war stories to tell. I know I already do. But it’s all about automation… and that’s what I need more than anything else… well, that and a robot army. :)

Cam,

What is your opinion on the “big launch” by all the gurus called GVO? Seems to be structured for someone like me that hopefully someday will need Infusion soft, but don’t have the business yet to need it. The monthly pricing seem fair for what is provided, but not having a track record has me concerned. I can see moving all my hosting there and them having problems. My concern is it is set up a an MLM and I vowed to stay away from those.

I haven’t committed and value your opinion since I am a satisfied custome of 5 minute minisites and Niche Dominator.

Regards,

Jeff

It looks like a good deal, and I’ve seen it “hyped” all over the place, but I’ve got some serious misgivings.

First, they’re using “guru” names and photos for their launch – some against the will of said gurus. Frank Kern forced them to take his picture out of it because he isn’t using it, doesn’t endorse it, and never heard of them before the “prelaunch”. So that alone gives me the heeby-geebies.

The other “iffy” thing – which you already mentioned – is the MLM aspect of it. It seems to be structured almost pyramid-like, rather than a true MLM. Plus – do the owners have any experience running other successful MLM’s? What’s their track record?

As I said, I’m happy with Infusionsoft. It’s taking a lot of work and effort to get setup, but I’m sure once it’s done I’ll be stoked to have gone through it all.

I appreciate that. I am not at the level to use Infusionsoft, but will file that away!

Best Regards,

Jeff

Hello Cam,

Hope all is well with you. I appreciate your efforts in putting out videos for beginners. That is me and I look forward to your series. I have struggled for several months and as yet have no presence on the web. I have spent some money with great promises but all that happens is some incomplete information is sent and then they flood you with too much ’stuff’ that is not relevant to getting down to basics. So, thanks for your efforts.
