Spent the weekend in sun-kissed Mooloolaba, QLD, Australia.
What an awesome place. It’s like a low-key South Beach… or a quiet Surfer’s Paradise. To top it off it was Australia’s “Spring Break” so the place was crawlin’. I slept in pretty late on Saturday, then took off to the Wharf to find some grub and a few souveniers for Julie and the boys.
After that it was off to the local grocery so I could make a few home-cooked meals, then Jason and I went down the Surf Club on Saturday night. That place was pretty rockin’!
The water was still burly cold, but nothing a 3-2-1 can’t handle, and it’s always good to be in the wet.
Definitely a place I’ll be heading back to… Hopefully with Julie & the boys next time!
Thanks to Mark for the hookup at Sirocco right there on the Esplanade. I couldn’t have asked for better accomodation, and being able to cook for a few nights was great. The worst part about travel is having to eat out almost every meal.
The funny thing is it seems nobody in Australia drinks percolated coffee, so when I stepped into the Starbucks for my morning jolt and asked for “regular coffee” they had to brew a whole huge pot just for my one cup. What a waste!
The barista’s response was classic Aussie though – “aahhhh, no draaaamas. it’s all good mate!”
It sure is.
